| I Needed to Do Something Better - Deferred Gift Annuity |
Ann has always chosen the path less traveled. When she received her teaching certificate almost 50 years ago, she volunteered to teach boys and girls in Alaska. From her comfortable childhood home outside of Detroit, she and her new husband set off for the remote frontier of Alaska. For the next 19 years, Ann taught school in little-known towns across the state.
As Ann explains: Because so many of the schools had only one room and one teacher, the state moved the school teachers every few years to give the students variety and a new perspective. Church pianists were also in short supply in Alaska, so as a pianist, Ann had the opportunity to play for a variety of churches. It was in one of these churches that the gospel message finally touched her life. Later on a sabbatical in Oregon, she became involved in a church where she trusted Christ to be her personal Savior.
 Of course, the adventures did not stop for Ann. After retiring from teaching, she and her husband moved to Arkansas where they learned to farm from their neighbors. Later she and her husband moved to California where she first became involved in Awana listening to the Chums and Guards recite their verses.
Ann said "When my mom passed away, I received an inheritance. I already had investments, and felt I needed to do something better with the money." That is when Ann contacted Awana Clubs International. Based on her situation, Ann decided to establish a deferred gift annuity, which would allow her to make a gift to Awana and still receive income for her life beginning at a specified future date. Today Ann is an Awana prayer warrior who prays for the ministry every day. Her favorite verses are Philippians 4:8 and 9, "Those things which ye have both learned... do; and the God of peace shall be with you."
